Seven Months Old

Lela, you are seven months old!
  • You weigh 16 pounds, 4 ounces.
  • You wear some 3-6 month clothes and mostly 6 month clothes.
  • You are in size 2 diapers.
  • You are not quite a conventional crawler but you can definitely get around. Just last night you were getting good at moving the opposite hand and knee at the same time. It won't be long!
  • You are pretty consistent at sleeping 8 hours at night and then sleeping for another 2 or 3 hours after that.
  • You still breastfeed every 3 hours.
  • You eat two meals a day. One around lunch time and the other around dinner time. We will probably have to make it three meals pretty soon.
  • You have decided you like applesauce and we've added some chicken to your evening meal and you seem to like that also.
  • You are NOT fond of your multivitamin and neither is Mommy! (see previous post).
  • You love to play and have decided that naps are overrated. The last few days have been napless!
  • You are learning new sounds everyday and we think you are trying to say Bella's name now. You have also added a 'G' and an 'F' sound to your babblings.
  • Your strong-willed nature continues to shine through. Sometimes you throw a fit when Mommy doesn't let you play with her iPhone :/
  • You are becoming more adept at moving around in your crib so we had to remove the bumpers because they simply got you one step closer to climbing out of the crib!

It's hard for me to remember you being so tiny and helpless.

You change so much everyday and I don't want to miss any of it!

You have such a sweet personality that only gets sweeter as you grow.

You are so adventurous and you make everything fun.

You are always aware of the world around you and you don't miss anything.

You are ready to be on the move and independent, but I want to hold on to you as long as I can!

You're smile is infectious and you enjoy being the center of attention.

My prayer is and always will be that you will glorify the Lord and make His name known in all you do.

Poly-Vi-Sol Disaster

When I went to change Lela's diaper this morning, this is what I found:

It was her vitamin bottle, almost completely full, turned over on her changing table and of course it wasn't closed all the way.
It got all under the changing pad and on the wood underneath. Luckily the wood is just covered plywood and the liquid didn't reach the holes in the table that accommodate the straps underneath. If that had happened, everything under the table would have been soaked which includes diapers and clothes and blankets.
If you've ever had an experience with Poly-Vi-Sol, you know that it stinks and tastes horribly bad. It is nearly toxic! On top of that I was cleaning Lela's baby food maker with vinegar in the kitchen so our house had some funky smells going on this morning. Nathan walked in at lunchtime and said "What is that smell?"

Well, everything is cleaned up now, but I think Lela's room is going to smell like her favorite vitamin for a while.

Anyway, changing gears, last night Lela and Nathan were playing on the floor and she refused to crawl or scoot on the floor. She would go a little ways and then sit up and try to stand up.
She's so crazy! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself when she starts walking, and I don't think that's too far away!

Oh, and here's a new picture of the herb garden:

The cilantro is the foreground and the basil is in the back.

That's all I got.

Good Weekend

Grammie and Pawpaw visited us this weekend. There were some good times . . . . . . and some bad :(
No, we had a lot of fun. We were thankful to be able to watch the Rangers game in my parents' hotel room.
Aunt Laura Beth and Uncle Christopher also joined us, but the only group picture we got, I'm laying down and it looks like they're all visiting me on my death bed. Much like this picture :/
The next day, Lela got her picture taken in a pumpkin patch! She was actually pretty subdued, but the pictures came out cute. We were glad to spend time with Grammie and Pawpaw and I know Lela was sad to see them go.

Oh, I checked on my herbs this morning and I now have some cilantro sprouting too! So exciting :)

First Signs of Life!

This picture is very close up and it is still hard to see. But I have a couple basil sproutlettes poking their little heads out!

Now the trick is to keep them alive.

I planted some herbs this weekend . . .

. . . just the seeds. We'll see how it goes but I definitely have a brown thumb. I'll try to keep you updated on the situation as it is sure to be comical.

And because I love this picture, here ya go :)

Scrambled Brain = Blog in list format

Much has happened since my last post and because my scrambled brain means there is high potential for meaningless ramblings, I will continue from here on out in list form.

1. Lela had her six month appointment at the end of September and Dr. Shirley actually used the word perfect to describe her. She also won the style award for the day with this outfit.
She also apparently has a big head. All her stats were in the 25th percentile but her head size was in the 75th percentile! But she is still perfect . . . according to Dr. Shirley, an unbiased viewpoint.

2. Last weekend Tawnya was here for Andrew's voice recital and Lela decided to sing along, so we enjoyed the singing in the hallway ;) She still made sure everyone could hear her and said "Da-da" real loud between one of the songs. She's crazy.

3. We decided to go to the Rangers' last regular season game that same weekend and invited Grandma and Jim to join us.
The excitement was too much for Lela.
They lost the game, but they're doing good now :) Go Rangers!

4. Lela is getting close to learning to drink from a sippy cup, but it has to be completely full or she gets frustrated pretty quickly.

5. The crisp fall air inspires me to bake things constantly. We currently have pumpkin chocolate chip cake and chocolate chip cookies in our kitchen. Yum :)

6. We visited Natalie and Jonathan (our music minister and his wife) at the hospital because they welcomed Mackenzie Grace into the world on Tuesday. She's so precious and I forgot how little newborns are! I'm so excited Lela will have a new friend at church.

7. Today was one of those days that made me want to pull my hair out. Nothing seemed to go right and on top of that I had Lela scheduled to get her picture taken today and I didn't feel like I could reschedule because today was actually a rescheduled appointment. But it all ended up okay.

That's all I have energy for. I will now watch Survivor on my computer because that takes no brain power %')
