Seven Months

Eli, you are 7 months old!
  • You weigh 18 pounds.
  • You are in size 3 diapers.
  • You fit in 6 months, 6-9 months or 6-12 months clothes.
  • You have started to mix in a couple ma-mas in your babblings.
  • You have the biggest smile and you love showing it off these days. And it is in no way a girly smile :) You almost look like you're yelling every time you smile.
  • Your scooting/army crawl is getting more defined and you have started to alternate your arms. You have even gotten up on all fours for a minute but it doesn't go much past that.
  • You still do good sleeping at night except for a few nights here and there but I think that can be attributed to teething.
  • You are such an explorer and you enjoy crawling under the coffee table even though you almost alway hit your head on it.
  • Unfortunately, your favorite things to grab and chew on are electrical cords and Lela's toys and books. I think you like to stir the pot ;)
  • You still breastfeed every 3-4 hours but each feeding is significantly shorter than it used to be.
  • You are starting to eat three times a day ending every day with poly-vi-sol-laced yogurt. Yuck!
  • You are doing better eating cheerios but it still kinda makes me nervous and the sippy cup usually just makes you mad and gets you all wet, which is just frustrating for you and me!
  • No significant improvements in the spitting up category. Hopefully it will end soon!
  • You really like the bath right now. You have learned how fun it is splash the water and you can make it go pretty far!
  • You love your sister so much and you can't hardly do anything else but watch her when she's around. She helped me take your pictures this month, that's why you're looking down in some of them. Lela can always make you laugh :)

You are at such a fun age right now and I'm really looking forward to the days ahead. You make my job as a mom a joy.

Six Months

Eli, you are six months old!
(I'm so ashamed I missed 5 months and now I'm doing 6 months really late!)

  • You weigh 16.1 pounds and you are 26 inches long.
  • You moved up to size 3 diapers last month.
  • You are right on the money with clothing sizes so some 3-6 month clothes are too small, but 6 month and 6-9 month clothes fit you well.
  • You are starting to babble a lot and you usually say "da da da" when you're really upset, just like your sister.
  • You are a squirmin', scootin' and rollin' machine. We can't keep you still! You are actually getting very skilled in your scooting abilities, so much so I can't leave you alone on the floor for even a few seconds because you can go clear across the room!
  • You are settling into a routine of going to bed at 9 and getting up around 7, and then you take 1 or 2 naps during the day (although as I write this I'm struggling to get you to nap, but I think it's just one of those days).
  • You haven't been interested in sitting up in the past, but you are getting to a point where you'll do it for a minute or two at a time (evidenced by this month's pictures :) ).
  • You are starting to enjoy your Johnny Jump-Up but your favorite thing is still rolling on the floor.
  • You still breastfeed every 3-4 hours.
  • You are eating food twice a day and that includes cereal (rice, oatmeal and whole wheat), squash, zucchini, sweet potatoes, bananas, apples and yogurt. You have even tried some cheerios, but you mostly spit them out.
  • You are trying to drink from a sippy cup but you pretty much just chew on it at this point.
  • You are still the spit up king. I thought you might have grown out of it by now, but you're still going strong.
  • I swear your favorite place is your changing table. That's really always been the case, but I thought you might grow out of it. You love to kick your legs and you always smile really big. You also throw your arms down really quickly like you're trying to keep me from changing your diaper and get my attention, and when I look at you, you just smile and laugh.
  • You are in a really grabby stage right now and anything that dangles close to your hands, you grab it and put it in your mouth.
  • You are starting to get ticklish and your laugh has definitely gotten bigger.
  • You're pretty laid back and only cry when you're tired, dirty or hungry. You don't ever cry for no reason.
It's funny how we can already see your distinct personality. You are such a boy even down to your little grunts. I can just imagine the fun you and your sister will have in the years to come! I'm pretty sure I say this every month but it's crazy how much you've changed and grown! You are a sweet, loving boy and your daddy and I love you so much!

(Just FYI, this is a genuine five-month picture and not just a tricky wardrobe change to fool you. I took the pictures, just didn't write the blog post.)

Graduation and all kinds of things

Let me start off by saying I've never claimed to be a stellar blogger. These last couple months are evidence as to why I would never ever say that.

Many things have transpired since I have last documented our lives, some of which I do not have pictures of (surprise, surprise!). So I'll keep it short and sweet and let the pictures do the talking.

I'll start with Thanksgiving. Nathan and I hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our house, but I was by no means head chef. I let Tawnya do the turkey since I was a complete novice.
Lela provided the entertainment, as always. Then a couple weeks later, we all headed down to the seminary to say our goodbyes . . . . . . because Nathan is officially done! Yay! Then we had the obligatory lunch at Mexican Inn. Lela enjoyed mostly enjoyed the butter. She's a little strange when it comes to food. She comes by it honestly. We also made a trip to see Ice at the Gaylord, but somehow I'm not finding my pictures of that outing. Here's one of us after we were done.
Ice was all Shrek themed and it was amazing what they could sculpt out of ice!

So, I wasn't kidding when I said short and sweet. I'm currently sitting in the midst of the calm before the storm (the storm being Christmas) so I have to scoot so I can get ready for the chaos that will inevitably hit any minute . . .

4 Months

Eli, you are 4 months old!
  • You weigh 14lbs 2oz. (our bathroom scale is obviously not reliable) and 24 1/2 in. long.
  • You wear size 2 diapers and they are beginning to get too small.
  • You fit in some 3 months clothes, mostly 3-6 month clothes and some 6 months clothes fit you.

  • You were much happier for your pictures this time. I think we caught you on a good day.
  • You have learned to roll over both ways and just in time for your 4 month appointment, just like your sister.
  • You always roll over on to your stomach when you sleep but that usually means you get your arm or leg stuck in the railings of your bed and that makes you pretty mad :(
  • We have learned you're not too fond of the exersaucer. You much prefer to roll on the floor.
  • You breastfeed every 3-4 hours and we started you on rice cereal on the 12th and you think that's the greatest thing! I think you're going to be my big eater :)
  • You are definitely smiling and laughing more now and you still relish the time right after your sister goes to bed and you have Mommy and Daddy's full attention ;)
  • You usually sleep well at night and only occasionally wake up at 3:00 am. The cereal has definitely helped with that!
  • You will take one nap during the day, but I usually have to let you cry until you sleep. Sometimes that how it goes at night too.
  • You are a sweet boy and I think you are much more laid back than your sister.
